A recent review article about managing hospital among inpatients was published in The Lancet. In “Management of disease-related malnutrition for patients being treated in hospital,” Schuetz et al. presented an overview of the latest knowledge about the burden of malnutrition; gaps in knowledge about diagnostic criteria, definitions, and means of identification; interventions to address it within hospitals; and reinforcement of recommendations for screening, assessing, and intervening to treat those at risk at the time of admission and as part of routine clinical care. These recommendations align with tools shared in the MQii Toolkit and the components of the Global Malnutrition Composite Score.
