We are pleased to share that the Medical Nutrition Therapy Act was reintroduced in both houses of Congress earlier this month. The Act would expand Medicare Part B MNT coverage to include prediabetes, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, malnutrition, eating disorders, cancer, celiac disease, HIV/AIDS, and conditions related to unintentional weight loss–thus increasing access to dietitians for Medicare patients across the country.
You can read the Academy’s press release for more information about implications for dietitians. You can also review preliminary information about the bipartisan HR3108 and SR1536; full text is forthcoming.
